Alumnus of the Month....Laura Moncivais, 2002 BSN graduate, claims that living on campus while she was attending TAMIU made the difference in her college experience. At first she would drive back and forth to Zapata where she lived with her family. But she soon realized that the time she was on the highway was valuable time she could be using to study. Living within walking distance of the library and the computer lab provided a safe environment. She spent countless hours in the Canseco School of Nursing computer labs working on the special programs and tutorials made available for the nursing students. Laura enjoyed the opportunity of meeting international students. She made friends with students from Puerto Rico, Thailand, Morocco, and Greece. She embraced the diversity and will always remember the amazing relationships she established. Today she lives in Zapata with her 21 old month baby girl Kristelle and works for two home health agencies. At a recent Alumni gathering in Zapata, she offered to serve as class representative. |
