Enrique Kladis ‘02 and Baldemar Pena ‘05 With youth, education, energy and a vision for their future, Enrique Kladis ’02 and Baldemar Pena ’05 have formed a partnership in a field of transportation that already boasts more than 70 trucking carriers in Laredo. The two created Meridian Carriers two months ago from a dream they shared years ago while they were roommates at The Village, located on the TAMIU campus. They chose the name Meridian Carriers to show reference to the north The two 27 year olds had not been directly involved in the trucking business, but believed they had developed the working knowledge of what was needed to be the best in the market. The company specializes in hauling dry van and refrigerated controlled merchandise. The company has a small fleet of five tractor-trailers rigs, and work with owner/operators for the rest of their work. Kladis said their company's difference is the level of service and better pricing. Pena said that once they get a customer they intend to keep them happy. “We’re as good as our last load,” Pena stated. The business is located at 12409 Distribution Ave. in the Interamerica Park.
