Alumni of the Month...
Reynaldo Guerrero, Jr., is currently attending TAMIU and is a work study in the Office of Alumni Relations. The staff soon learned from Rey that his parents, Reynaldo, Sr. ’99 and Ana L.’03 Guerrero, were TAMIU Alumni. He is very proud of them because of the long hard road they took in becoming teachers.
Rey and Ana are originally from Nuevo Laredo when they immigrated to the Texas; unable to find employment in their chosen field they had to struggle with multiple manual labored jobs and work long hours to make ends meet. With a growing family, not knowing English, they soon realized they needed to go back to school. Ana was first to attend TAMIU and soon convinced her husband to do the same.
Rey's father worked as a school bus driver while he went to school and took 10 years to receive his degree because he was only able to take 8 to 12 hours per semester. It took Ana a little longer because of the growing family needs but in May she graduated with an early childhood development specialization and will teach at Cuellar Elementary. Rey Sr. has been a math teacher at UISD for the last 6 years.
Rey, Jr. credits his college success to his parents who serve as role models and appreciates all they have done for him and his brothers in acquiring a better life.

Career Tips…E-Mailing Do not type in all caps. Typing in all caps is considered yelling or screaming online. Various studies on the topic reflect that it is more difficult and takes longer to read text that is typed in all caps. Do not leave the Subject field blank. Always fill in the Subject: field with a brief and concise description of the content of your e-mail. This is very important in helping those you communicate with organize and manage their e-mail. Sending the same email to a group of people. When an e-mail address is designated in the Blind Carbon Copy field, the recipient will get a copy of the e-mail while their e-mail address remains invisible to the other recipients of the e-mail - some of whom they may or may not know. Many folks prefer to decide themselves who has their e-mail address. Material Courtesy of NetManners.com |
