Welcome To The
School Counseling Clinic
The Logotherapy and School Counseling Clinic is designed to serve two purposes. First, as a Logotherapy research and education clinic, its mission is to investigate the relationship between the constructs meaning, purpose, and human potential. The theoretical orientation followed in the clinic is existentially-based and grounded in the work of Dr. Viktor Frankl-a Holocaust survivor-and founder of Logotherapy. Logotherapy teaches that every individual has the capacity to transcend suffering and discover a unique meaning and purpose for living. The clinic is available for individuals, groups, and organizations who are interested in learning more about how a meaning-center orientation may lead to greater human productivity and potential.
The M.S. in School Counseling Program at Texas A&M International University utilizes the clinic for all courses in the clinical sequence, including basic counseling skills, group work, and advance practicum and internship experiences. The school counseling program primarily serves South Texas communitites by transforming highly qualified publich school teachers into highly effective K-12 school counselors. The school counseling component of the clinic is also avaialble to the public for collaboration and consultation purposes.
