Texas Success Initiative
- The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) provides Texas students and
institutions of higher education with a flexible, fair, and accurate testing and
score-reporting system. Its purpose is to assess the reading, mathematics, and
writing skills that entering freshman-level students should have if they are to
perform effectively in undergraduate degree programs in Texas public colleges or
universities.
- The TAMIU ULC assists students to prepare for the THEA Test by providing
TAMIU students with tutoring for developing and strengthening academic skills in
math and reading that need improvement.
- The ULC also conducts an intensive 2 day THEA workshop in Math and Reading
every summer to provide TAMIU students and the TAMIU community with THEA Test
preparation. The workshop covers topics specific to the THEA Test and provides
instruction to strengthen required academic skills in math and reading.
