of feudal society; impact of Islamic and Byzantine worlds; rise of
the Papacy and the Crusades; economic life, technology, and invention;
intellectual revival of the 12th century; crises of the 13th century;
and developments of the later Middle Ages. Prerequisite: Six hours
of history or permission of instructor. May be taken for graduate
credit.
