| A detailed study of optics. Topics include thin and thick lenses, the lensmaker’s equation, apertures, optical machines, interference, Fresnel and Fraunhofer diffraction and polarization, the Cornu Spiral. Electromagnetic waves, geometric optics, physical optics, optical instruments, lasers and holography. Prerequisites: PHYS 2326/PHYS 2126, MATH 2414. |
