TAMIU Fall 2021 Commencement Program

Alyssa Verónica Casares is a 2018 graduate of J. W. Nixon High School. Today, Alyssa is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies. Her areas of concentration are Communication, Liberal Arts and Psychology. She completed her degree plan in 3.5 years and has been named to the Dean’s List numerous times. She undertook a study abroad program in Australia focused on the struggles of minority groups there. While a student, she also served as a literacy tutor for second graders at H. B. Zachary Elementary School and as a peer mentor with TAMIU’s University College. She recently joined HEB’s Showtime Department and plans to continue working there with the goal of participating in HEB leadership opportunities leading to store management positions. Today, Nurya is graduating from the College of Education with a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Special Education with All-Level and EC-6 Certification. While a student atTAMIU, Nurya was an officer in the Bilingual Education Student Organi- zation, and a National Society of Leadership and Success and Kappa Delta Epsilon member. She plans to work as a Special Education resource teacher and pursue a Master’s degree in Education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Nurya Villaseñor College of Education
