2022 Spooktacular Scavenger Hunt

As a part of Learning Technologies Week, the Office of Information Technology wishes to have students participate in a scavenger hunt (mobile adventure) event that gets students to explore the University, its events, and services to students. View the following on how to play and the rules of the game.

How to Play

  1. The scavenger hunt officially begins at 8:00 AM CT on Monday, October 24, 2022 and will end at 7:00 PM CT on Friday, October 28, 2022.
  2. Visit this link for instructions on how to download the app and join the game. (Remember: provide your full name as the username and you MUST use your @dusty.tamiu.edu as your email to be eligible for the prizes.)

  1. When the scavenger hunt begins, challenges will be made available inside the Eventzee app.
  2. Players must complete the challenges as stated in the directions. Unless noted otherwise, the player must appear in each of their photo/video submissions.
  3. Each challenge will have a designated point value. Grouped challenges must be completed on that specific date to be entered into the daily raffle.
  4. To complete the photo and video clues, take a picture/"selfie" or video at the location and submit it through the Eventzee app. Scavenger hunt administrators will review submissions and award points to submissions that meet the clue requirements. If a submission is rejected by administrators, players will lose those points. The player will then be allowed to re-attempt submission to the clue.
  5. Multiple choice questions will award points only for correct answers in the player’s attempt. Incorrect responses will receive no credit.

Official Rules

Eligibility

  1. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Multiple submissions do not improve your chances of winning.
  2. Players must be individuals who are currently enrolled students at Texas A&M International University during the delivery of the game.
    1. Office of Information Technology employees are not eligible to participate in the Scavenger Hunt or win a giveaway.
  3. A player who wins a giveaway must provide proof of their TAMIU enrollment by showing OIT staff their valid, current TAMIU student ID or other valid identification.
  4. Players are only eligible to win one Grand giveaway. Winners will be announced Oct. 31st.
  5. Players will be entered into a raffle for a daily giveaway.Winners will be selected during the event and announced Oct. 31st.
  6. Players must enter their submissions through the Eventzee app.
    1. For those that require accommodations, please contact the eLearning team (at elearning-team@tamiu.edu) for alternate methods of participating.
  7. Players must submit all clue attempts before the stated deadline of the game to be eligible for points.
  8. Only the “Eventzee – Virtual Events” app will be utilized as the submission platform.
  9. Only the single submitter attached to the username of the Eventzee account is eligible for a giveaway.

Giveaways

  1. Number of winners will be determined and announced by OIT during Learning Technologies Week.
  2. Number and list of giveaways will be displayed during Learning Technologies Week via social media.
  3. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible participants and accumulation of points during the game.

Communicating with Winners

  1. Top players will be notified via @dusty.tamiu.edu email.
  2. Winners will need to display proof of valid TAMIU enrollment as outlined in the “Eligibility” section above.
  3. Winners that do not claim giveaways at the Instructional Technology and Distance Education Services office (Killam Library 259) by November 4, 2022 at 7:00PM CT will forfeit their giveaway. Unclaimed giveaways will be returned to the Office of Information Technology.
  4. Winners will be announced via Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/tamiu_elearning/ and Twitter at https://twitter.com/tamiu_elearning.

Publicity

  1. Except where prohibited, participants grant the Office of Information Technology permission to use their names, characters, images, and likenesses worldwide, in perpetuity, in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented in any and all marketing and promotional materials and waive any claims to royalty, right, or remuneration for such use.
  2. Each winner’s name may be included in a publicly available winners list.

Conduct and Decisions.

  1. All decisions by OIT scavenger hunt administrators will be final and binding on all matters relating to this Scavenger Hunt.
  2. Persons who violate any rule, gain unfair advantage in participating in the Scavenger Hunt, or obtain winner status using fraudulent means will be disqualified. OIT will interpret these Rules and resolve any disputes, conflicting claims or ambiguities concerning the rules or the Scavenger Hunt and OIT’s decisions concerning such disputes shall be final.
  3. If, for any reason, more bona fide winners are notified than giveaway(s) available, giveaway(s) will be awarded in a random drawing from among all such persons. Inclusion in such drawing shall be each entrant’s sole and exclusive remedy under such circumstances.
  4. OIT further reserves the right to terminate the Scavenger Hunt if in its sole judgment, the rules or the integrity of the Scavenger Hunt have been violated or compromised in any way, intentionally or unintentionally by any person whether or not an entrant in the Scavenger Hunt.
  5. If applicable material changes to the Scavenger Hunt rules will be broadcast via Eventzee app notifications and available via social media, when practical.
  6. OIT’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of this provision.
