What is Make a Difference?
Make a Difference is the largest single-day of volunteering in the country. On the fourth Saturday of October, millions of volunteers around the world unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. Make A Difference Day is a day to celebrate the power of people to make a difference.

Make a Difference Week FY 2014
Make a Difference Week is the official kick-off to promote Make a Difference Day. The Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement hosts several information booths to promote local community actions and service opportunities.
Oct. 20 - Partnership TAMIU: An Alliance for Good – is the official kick-off to Make a Difference week. Seven local agencies will sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the University to make an official commitment to service in our local community. STC Rotunda 10AM - 2PM
Oct. 20 – Partnership Booth – partnership with Azteca Economic Development to promote financial literacy and economic sustainability. STC Rotunda 10AM - 2PM
Oct. 21 - Inspire a Child – partnership with Voz de Ninos, Children’s Advocacy Center and SCAN to create inspirational cards to motivate our youth and promote higher education. STC Rotunda 10AM - 2PM
Oct. 22 - TAMIU Fights Hunger – partnership with South Texas Food Bank to promote the local and national endeavor to end hunger. STC Rotunda 10AM - 2PM
Oct. 23 - Barter for Better Drive and Trade – partnership with Volunteer Serving the Need (VSTN) to collect and trade goods for 500 local military families.STC Rotunda 10AM - 2PM
Oct. 25 - Make a Difference Day - partnership with Ruthe B. Cowl Rehabilitation Center to beautify and create a more inviting center for children and community families. Projects include:
- Painting indoor walls at the Kid’s Therapy Room (Robot theme)
- Painting ceiling in the Kid’s Therapy Room
- Washing/Cleaning walls at the kids playground
- Painting walls at the kids playground
- Cleaning walls at the garden area
- Painting walls at the garden area
- Cleaning equipment in the Adult Therapy Wing
- Providing shelving for equipment in the Adult Therapy Wing
- Reconstructing garden area
- Painting some quotes of inspiration in lobby area

In 2010, Texas A&M International University established its first Make a Difference event. Over 150 students gathered to serve the Laredo-Webb community to make a difference.
