TSI Bridge Program

The TSI Bridge Program is an 8-day program focused on developing and strengthening Reading, Writing, and/or Mathematics skills necessary for the Texas Success Initiative (TSI). 

Sessions are led by TAMIU Instructors and Staff with support from Writing Center and University Learning Center tutors.

After completion of the program, participants will have the opportunity to attempt the TSI exam free of charge.  Program will follow CDC and social distancing guidelines. 

Program Dates: 

Monday - Thursday 

  • Program 1: July 13-23 (TSI Exam on Friday, July 24)
  • Program 2: August 3-13 (TSI Exam on Friday, August 14)

Reading and Writing Sessions- Hybrid Format

Reading and writing sessions will be hybrid, with virtual instruction and in-person tutoring at TAMIU.

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Virtual Instruction 

1 - 3 p.m. In-Person Tutoring 


Sessions will focus on: 

  • Literary Analysis 
  • Main Idea and Supporting Details 
  • Inferences in a Text or Texts 
  • Author's Use of Language 
  • Essay Revision 
  • Sentence Structure 
  • Sentence Logic 


Mathematics Session

Mathematics sessions will be in-person at TAMIU.


9 - 10:30 a.m. In-Person Instruction 

10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. In-Person Tutoring

Sessions will focus on: 

  • Elementary Algebra and Functions 
  • Intermediate Algebra and Functions 
  • Geometry and Measurement 
  • Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability
