Congratulations Jorge!
Jorge F. Gonzalez '87 has been appointed as one of the three new board of trustee members to the Laredo Medical Center. Jorge has almost two decades of banking and business experience. He joined Falcon International Bank in September 2003. He is responsible for Falcon's Jorge has dedicatedly served on the United Way Board of Directors for 16 years and has served as past president for United Way, the American Heart Association, and Communities in Schools. Currently, Gonzalez dedicates time and service to the Boys and Girls Club Board, WBCA Board, Mercy Ministries of Laredo Board, and the South Texas Workforce Development Board. Additionally, he is a member of Toastmaster International, Gateway Rotary, and was the First Commissioner for Roundball on the Rio benefiting Special Olympics.
Jorge graduated in the top 10% in his J. W. Nixon High School class of 1975, and then went on to graduate with honors from Laredo State University with a BBA in General Business. New TAMIU Alumni Officers Selected

Alumni officers and members discussed the recent alumni fundraising activities such as the May’s Commencement Rose Sale,chaired by Gloria Madrigal '98 which was a huge success with a total profit of $1,609.00. Future fundraising events discussed included AutMus Fest 2006. Danielle Gomez '03, public relations chair, introduced community guests Sammy Ramirez and Raul Rodriguez, of BMP Radio, to announce their support of the Alumni Association for the promotion of AutMus Fest. Institutional Advancement vice president, Candy Hein, invited those present to the first NCAA soccer game to be held on August 29th as part of “Welcome Week” activities for the Fall 06 semester.
Orlando invited those present to continue to participate and recruit more TAMIU, LSU, and A&I former students to strengthen Association. He promised a year filled with exciting news and activities from the TAMIU Alumni Association. Thank you so much for your interest in TAMIU activities Michael!

Laura Cruz-Garza '00 received her Ph.D. in psychology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock on May 12, 2006.

Bryan M. Smith is a senior majoring in fitness and sports who enjoys playing baseball. Bryan is currently an employee at the LEC.
