MISSION

The Department of Social Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines including History, Political Science, and Public Administration. In addition to the disciplines named above, we also offer undergraduate minors in Anthropology and Geography/Urban Studies, and provide advising for students seeking admission to law school.

These programs are designed to foster personal growth, the ability to think critically, to become good citizens, and to understand the increasingly complex world around us. Graduates of our programs will fill a variety of critical roles in society including teaching children, managing public agencies or holding public office, among other important tasks as leaders. Our goal, in the Department of Social Sciences, is to help each student realize his or her potential through informative and challenging class work, interaction with a diverse student body and exposure to new ideas and new ways of seeing the world. Each faculty member is committed to building future leaders who are equipped to meet the challenges of the new century.
