A&M International Offers Continuing Ed. Courses

Texas A&M International University's Office of Continuing Education is currently conducting registration for low-cost computer and defensive driving courses which will be offered at the University's main campus in November and December.

Continuing education course being offered at A&M International include Introduction to Lotus 1-2-3, Introduction to the Macintosh Operating System, Introduction to Windows 95, and Defensive Driving.

Introduction to Lotus 1-2-3 will be offered on Saturday, November 16 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in Building C room 114. Tuition is $75. This is an introductory course for the spreadsheet software Lotus. Participants will learn to enter information into a spreadsheet, enter formulas to manipulate data, and format it into an esthetic output.

Introduction to the Macintosh Operating System will be offered on Saturday, November 23 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuition is $35.. The four-hour comprehensive introductory course will provide hands-on instruction on word processing, spreadsheets, databases, drawing programs, and trouble shooting techniques. Components, assembly, and hardware and software operations will also be discussed.

A one-day Introduction to Windows 95 course will be offered Saturday, December 7, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tuition is $75. Class size is limited to ensure individualized instruction. The hands-on course is designed for individuals who have some computer experience. Topics include launching applications from Windows, understanding the Program Manager, managing multiple applications, simplifying file maintenance and organization, trouble-shooting techniques, shortcuts, and linking information between different Windows applications.

Two State approved Defensive Driving courses will be offered. An all-day course will be offered on Saturday, November 23, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 103. A two-day evening course will be offered on Thursday, December 19 and Friday, December 20, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 103. Tuition for either course is $25. The course may be taken for ticket dismissal and a 10% discount savings on auto insurance premiums. Persons interested in taking the course for ticket dismissal should first obtain permission from the court assigned to them on the ticket before registering for the course.
