Parents who are interested in forming a support group for Texas A&M International University students are invited to attend an organizational meeting of the "Texas A&M International University Moms and Dads Support Group" scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 9.

The meeting is expected to start at 7 p.m. in room 101 of the Bob Bullock Hall.

Dr. Stephen Brown, dean of student affairs, said that the idea of the support group originated after a number of enthusiastic parents from Alexander High School approached him to discuss the possibility of forming an organization geared to raising scholarship and other support funds for the special needs of University students.

Joining the support group will give parents an ideal opportunity to start another new tradition at the University,

"Parent groups are prominent throughout all of higher education. It is time to have one here," Brown said.

For more information, call the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs at 326-2275. University office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
