Energetic, enthusiastic Texas A&M International University students who have a grade point average of at least 2.0 and meet other requirements are invited to apply for paid positions as Summer 1998 Orientation Leaders.

A&M International Orientation Leaders will represent the University to new students and their parents during the University's New Student Orientation in July and August. They will also present workshops, conduct campus tours, create and perform a skit on campus life, and organize activities for the Orientation program.

Orientation Leader positions begin May 21 with an overnight training retreat at University Village, A&M International's on-campus student housing, from May 21 - 23. Orientation Leaders will also work approximately 10 hours per day during Orientation Programs. Three Orientation Programs are scheduled: an overnight program July 29 - 30, a one-day Program August 8, and an evening Program August 24. Additional working hours may also be scheduled.

Gabriela Mendoza, Associate Director of Student Development, said the training Orientation Leaders receive will help them to be better communicators and better leaders.

"The Orientation Leaders program is a wonderful opportunity for our students to enhance their interpersonal, public speaking, and project management skills," Mendoza said.

Students interested in applying for Orientation Leader positions must meet the following qualification: have at least a 2.0 grade point average, have completed at least 12 credit hours at A&M International, and be preregistered for the Fall 1998 semester.
