TAMIU Unveils Optimized, New Catalog Experience

The TAMIU Catalog is a whole new, optimized experience.

The days of scrolling through seemingly endless webpages of the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Catalog have come to an end.  TAMIU has just launched its updated version of the catalog in a user friendly, device-optimized version loaded with user extras.

“Next to a University website, the Catalog is the most heavily trafficked student information search effort…so making that experience accessible, concise, and relevant is especially important,” said Juan Gilberto García, Jr., TAMIU associate vice president and registrar.

Pivotal to the University’s catalog relaunch was making the catalogue responsive across devices, García said.

“The new Catalog is responsive across desktop, tablet and smartphone devices. It’s completely searchable and has interactive information bubbles throughout.  Course descriptions are linked to pre- and co-requisites.  Updates are instantaneous when added.  One especially helpful feature allows for the conversion and printing of catalog pages to a printer-friendly (PDF) format,” García noted.

As the Catalog is embedded in the University’s website, the navigation experience is seamless, he added.

TAMIU worked with an industry leader in catalog management solutions, CourseLeaf, to incorporate intuitive editing, manageable workflows and on-demand publishing to web, mobile, tablet and print PDF platforms. Through CourseLeaf Catalogue (CAT) TAMIU’s Catalog integrates and syncs with student information systems, flags errors and provides summary reports to managers to deliver an academic catalog website that accurately reflects TAMIU’s programs.

“We’re really pleased with the result and know that our students will find the Catalog experience a seismic improvement over its predecessor,” García concluded.
