Fall Dance Concert at TAMIU Nov. 16-17

 

TAMIU Fall Dance 2018
 

Enjoy an evening of performances by Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) dance students during the 2018 Fall Dance Concert Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theatre.

The concerts celebrate the talents of dance students and will feature a diverse repertoire of dance genres, including ballet folklorico, flamenco, jazz and modern dance. 

Entrance is $5 minimum donation per person. TAMIU students enter free with an ID. Children 10 years and younger are admitted free.

The concert will showcase the talent of student choreographers Luis Castilla, Magdalena Mendoza and Hugo Torres through several modern dance pieces.

Choreography for the dance concert includes dance pieces by fine and performing arts faculty members Jee Eun Ahn, assistant professor of Dance; Kerry Kim, visiting assistant professor of Dance; Ericka García Haynes, adjunct faculty of Dance and Nayeli Lopez, adjunct faculty of Dance.

Featured dance titles in the program include ‘Coco: Poco Loco, Recuerdame, Latido De Mi Corazón,’ ‘Jalisco: Los Machetes’ ‘Puebla: Que Chula Es Puebla,’ ‘Giselle,’ and ‘Bridal Mask,’ among others.

This year’s dance concert is held in conjunction with the University’s Reading the Globe 10thAnniversary Celebration. The University-wide initiative aims to engage members of the University and surrounding community by participating in a common read. The activity helps foster a global-minded perspective while supporting student success.
