Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and its intersection between technology and society will be discussed during the upcoming IBC Bank & Commerce Bank 2023-24 Keynote Speaker Series.

Dr. Mona Sloane, assistant professor of Data Science and Media Studies at the University of Virginia, will present a lecture titled "The 'Social' in A.I." on Wednesday, March 20, at 6 p.m. The presentation will be delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams.

The event is free and open to the public. View the virtual lecture at go.tamiu.edu/sloane

The lecture is made possible through the TAMIU A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business and the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade as part of a series sponsored by IBC Bank and Commerce Bank.

As A.I. systems continue to grow and develop, these emerging technologies reconfigure how we live, work, and relate to one another. This discussion will delve into how A.I. will shape our collective future.

Sloane serves as the Co-Opting A.I. book series editor at the University of California Press and the technology editor for Public Books. While at the University of Virginia, Sloane runs the Sloane Lab, which focuses on empirical research, delving into the implications of technology used for the organization of social life.
