Dr. Campbell, assistant professor of music, will provide organ accompaniment to a silent movie, "Que Viva México." The event is free and open to the public.
"The Oven" Theater Presentation
Thursday, October 5, at 7 p.m., CFPA Theater
Dr. Ilan Stavans from Amherst College will perform a one-man show, "The Oven," which has been performed in theaters throughout New England. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
"Rapsodia del Río Grande" Lecture Presentation
Sunday, October 8, at 2 p.m., LBV 102
Dr. Colin Campbell will provide a presentation on the background and contextualizatioin that led to the commission of the musical composition, "Rapsodia del Río Grande."
"Frontiers of Race and Ethnicity in Hispanic Genealogy" Lecture Presentation
Friday, October 20, at 3 p.m., KL 203
In his presentation, Dr. Aarón Olivas, assistant professor of History, will explore his own family history and delve into the complexities of constructing and deconstructing his Hispanic identity. This lecture is one of a list of activities planned to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Latin American Trumpet and Piano Recital
Thursday, October 26, at 7:30 p.m., CFPA Recital Hall
Dr. Oswaldo Zapata, assistant professor of Music, and Dr. Fritz Gechter, associate professor of Music, will pay tribute to Latin American music with trumpet and piano music. Event is free and open to the public. The event is a part of list of activities planned to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
