IN ANTHROPOLOGY

This
curriculum is designed to acquaint students with the five fields
of anthropology-archeology, cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology,
physical anthropology, and applied anthropology. Each course is
designed to provide an understanding of the holistic, comparative
and cross-cultural nature of all anthropological theory and method.

general objectives of this curriculum are to provide the student with: |

sense of the wide range and variability of human cultures;

An understanding of culture as a holistic and integrated system;
|
| 3
An understanding of the origins and evolutionary development
of humans and their cultures; |
| 4
An appreciation of how anthropological insights and methodologies
can be used to address contem- porary human
problems; |
| 5
A respect for other ways of life and an understanding of ethnocentrism
|
| 6 A
deeper understanding of the student's own culture as seen in contrast
to other cultures. |
