MINOR
IN GERONTOLOGY

This
curriculum is designed to provide students with the understanding
of the issues affecting the elderly so that they will be equipped
to work with older people in our society. The components of this
minor curriculum include social, political, and psychological aspects
of aging.

general objectives of this curriculum are to provide the student with: |

An
understanding of the changes in social relationships as individuals
age;

An understanding of the psychological effects of aging; |
| 3
An understanding of the political issues that affect the elderly,
and the ways in which elderly indi- viduals
can affect public policy; and |
| 4
An appreciation for the needs and concerns of the elderly. |
