Space Management
Campus Building and Infrastructure Stewardship
The Campus Safety and Planning team members are proud to serve the campus community in support of the university’s mission. The Space Management group of web pages describes the various types and forms of services provided by Campus Safety and Planning . A common theme to our work is one of stewardship – we strive to find solutions and alternatives that provide the best outcomes through exceptional results and advice. With a focus on continuous improvement, we use industry standards and best practices as our goal. We evaluate our performance and effectiveness based on customer input and comparisons to peer institutions.
Campus Safety and Planning carefully manages resources to meet service expectations and coordinate overall stewardship. These are our guiding stewardship principles:
- We are here to help advance the work and programs of TAMIU. Our contributions must bring value.
- Our long-term and daily stewardship plans must include safety, for all campus users.
- Our commitment to stewardship begins with campus planning, extends through the creation of new space, the alteration of existing space, operational capacity, and through to the end of life for a building. Most of our building assets will live for 80+ years, we want to build the right thing and provide the right care to provide the best future for the building.
- A well-managed capital renewal and modernization plan combined with a well managed operational programs can help control capital renewal expenditures.
- Respect of a Total Cost of Ownership philosophy will reduce operating and capital renewal costs over the life of an asset. This includes ongoing capital investment and adherence to planning and design standards.
