Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students have a new scholarship option thanks to the generosity of Stripes Convenience Stores.

Stripes donated $21,000 to support TAMIU student scholarships for 2014-2015 in a brief ceremony this week at the University. On hand for the presentation was Manuel Barrera, STRIPES senior area manager.

TAMIU president Dr. Ray Keck applauded Stripes’ move and support for students.

“We’re delighted to have the partnership of Stripes for our students and appreciate their investment in our students’ futures.  We hope others will follow their philanthropic lead and help deserving students,” Dr. Keck observed.

To be eligible for the new TAMIU Stripes Scholarship, students must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours and have a minimum 2.5 GPA for current and transferring students. First time freshmen must meet scholarship requirements.
