“As first generation American, I am compelled to succeed.”

CPA
Botello & Howell

Although she was born in Laredo, Botello spent the early years of her childhood in Chicago. Even though the city was racially segregated, she found love and support in her close-knit family.

The eldest of six children born of Mexican parents, she carried the burden of being a role model to her siblings. She accepted responsibility at a young age which taught her decision-making skills and a strong sense of commitment to excellence, traits she has carried throughout her academic and professional life.

A job opportunity in high school not only provided her with a mentor, but with the financial resources to seek a higher education. She treasured the opportunity afforded by her employer and was determined to make the most of it. When she graduated from then-Laredo State University, she made history by being one of the first three graduates in the accounting program.

She then passed the CPA exam and began a career that has led to being president of her own firm. Botello actively participates in many Laredo organizations. She volunteers her time to support organizations that help prepare and motivate future leaders, the same way her mentors encouraged her.
