FAQs
TAMIU Books IncludED takes the hassle out of course material buying because costs for required course materials are included in your tuition and fee bill. Every enrolled, degree-seeking student* will have access to required materials on Day One of classes. Please visit My Books IncludED to be directed to the student portal. You may also access the portal from your Blackboard account.
*At this time, TAMIU Books IncludED is not available to students taking courses at the RELLIS campus.Yes! The vast majority of students will save with TAMIU Books IncludED because the low, per-semester credit hour charge (just $33 for the 2022-23 academic year) is hard to beat, providing many students with all their materials for about the cost of a new textbook. You'll see this charge on your tuition and fee bill as TAMIU Books IncludED.
Still, because course material costs vary by course, students who find their course materials cheaper elsewhere have the opportunity to opt-out of the program for each part-of-term, or sub-term, in a semester. This opportunity is for all classes in a part-of-term, not by course. TAMIU Books IncludED is an “all in” or “all out” option for each part-of-term.
The following are the parts-of-term, or sub-terms, in a semester:
- Full Term, or regular, full-length semester
- 12 Week - Flex Entry
- 13 Week - Flex Entry
- 7 Week - 1st Sub-term
- 7 Week - 2nd Sub-term
- Maymester
- Summer Session I
- Summer Session II
- Summer Session III
- Wintermester
Once you opt out of a part-of-term for the semester, you will only be able to opt back in before the census date for your part-of-term as published in the University's academic calendar.
If you drop a course, simply return non-digital materials to the Campus Bookstore within 24 hours of dropping the course—there's no action required on your part for digital materials. If you add a new course, your digital materials will be available in Blackboard within 48 hours and the charge automatically added to your student account. For non-digital materials, go to the Campus Bookstore one day after enrollment. If you drop a course, you will see a credit to your student account.
We’ve included required course materials adopted by your professor through the TAMIU Bookstore… such as required textbooks and access codes. Supporting or consumable course materials such as art supplies, lab kits or scrubs, are generally not included. The Bookstore is not responsible for faculty adoptions as either required or recommended.
You can opt out for any part-of-term, or sub-term, in a semester by visiting the link to the opt out portal that will be sent to your TAMIU Dusty student email account about 2 weeks before the start of each part-of-term. This email will give you directions on how to opt out.
Remember, TAMIU Books IncludED is an "all in" or "all out" option for each part-of-term, or sub-term, in a semester. If you're taking 5 classes in a full-term semester, when you opt-out, the materials for all 5 of your classes will no longer be available to you through TAMIU Books IncludED, and your student account will be credited after the census date as published on the University's academic calendar for the respective part-of-term you're opting out of.
Once you opt out, you will only be able to opt back before the census date for your term as published in the University's academic calendar.

New for 2023: You may now opt out of the first 7-week sub-term and opt in to the second 7-week sub-term and vice-versa. Previously, opting out of one 7-week sub-term automatically opted you out of all 7-week sub-terms in a given semester.
TAMIU Books IncludED is a program that takes the hassle out of course material buying because required course material costs are included as part of your tuition and fees. This allows every enrolled student access to all their required course materials on Day One, and provides the confidence that you have the correct materials for your courses. Your course materials may be digital or physical but will be available to you before your first day of class. Please visit My Books IncludED to be directed to the student portal. You may also access the portal from your Blackboard account.
In order to opt out of the program, visit the link to the opt out portal that will be sent to your TAMIU Dusty student email account about 2 weeks before the start of each part-of-term. This email will give you directions on how to opt out.

All requests to opt out of the program will be processed at one time, and your student account will be credited after the census date as published on the University’s academic calendar for the respective part-of-term, or sub-term you’re opting out of. If you’ve opted out, you can reduce your tuition and fee payment for the part-of-term, or sub-term, by this amount, and you won’t be charged a late fee or dropped from any classes if your balance consists solely of the TAMIU Books IncludED fee.
Once you opt out, you will only be able to opt back in before the census date for your part-of-term as published in the University's academic calendar.
Your digital course materials will be available using your TAMIU Dusty student email and in Blackboard by the first day of classes. Please visit My Books IncludED to be directed to the student portal. You may also access the portal from your Blackboard account.
Students will receive an email (sent to their TAMIU Dusty student email account) from the TAMIU Bookstore approximately three weeks prior to the start of the part-of-term. Non-digital course materials will have to be picked up at the Bookstore.
Your course materials can be mailed to you for a small shipping and handling fee. Please reach out to the TAMIU Bookstore at 2167mgr@follett.com for details.
Only materials identified by your professor or campus as "required" are included as part of the program. All “recommended” materials will be available for purchase at the Campus Bookstore.
