Principles of Forensic Science
Four semester hours.
Forensic Science is focused on the application of scientific methods and techniques to crime and law. Emphasis is placed on understanding the science behind the techniques used in evaluating physical, chemical, and biological evidence. Topics included are blood analysis, organic and inorganic evidence analysis, microscopic investigations, hair analysis, DNA, drug chemistry and toxicology, fiber comparisons, paints, glass compositions and fragmentation, fingerprints, footprints, soil comparisons, and arson investigations, among others. Lecture/Laboratory. Prerequisite: BIOL 1470, and CHEM 1370 or permission of the instructor. Laboratory Fee: $30.00
