Psychopathology Using DSM
Three semester hours.
This course will provide an overview of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and its descriptions of mental health disorders. The emphasis is on developmental, cultural, and ethical issues in light of diagnosis. In addition, emphasis is given to the characteristics, etiology, and treatment of major patterns of maladaptive behavior and the use of diagnosis as a specific type of assessment that is used to improve services to students/clients. Psychopharmacology will be introduced as a concept of current treatment.
