AFFILIATE PROGRAMS

  • Sponsored by study abroad organization or other institution

  • Apply through TAMIU and program provider, pay program fees directly to program provider

  • Study abroad periods can be summer, semester, or year-long

  • Attend classes with other U.S. students, few integrated programs at host university.  Language proficiency is generally not required, unless enrolling in regular university classes or language courses

  • Transfer credit calculated into cumulative TAMIU GPA

  • Study abroad organizations often offer own scholarships to participants

  • Full transfer of financial aid (federal, state, and institutional)

 

DISCOVER LATIN AMERICA!

Starting January 2010, TAMIU students who choose a semester-long affiliate program in Latin or Central America (excluding Mexico) are eligible for a matching award from TAMIU.  This award matches the discount a TAMIU student receives from the Affiliate Partner: for example, if you receive a $400 program discount, TAMIU will match this with a $400 award.  You are still eligible to apply for any of the competetive TAMIU scholarships.  Affiliate discounts: AIFS $400, ISA $300, CEA $250, API $250, IFSA $ TBA.

 

TAMIU AFFILIATES

American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)

Countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Czeck Republic, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Russia, Spain, Turkey, and South Africa.

Disciplines: check for courses with AIFS

Scholarships: Two Minority Scholarships, Study Again with AIFS Scholarships, Gilman Scholarship Bonus, and in addition to AIFS offered scholarships, we have two stipends in the amount of $750 each, which is distributed in a lottery drawing to qualified students.  Check with OIE for further details.

Academic Programs International (API)

Countries: Argentina, Costa Rica, England, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and Spain.

Disciplines: check for courses with API

Scholarships: API scholarships ranging between $250 and $1,000, and in addition to API offered scholarships, we offer an affiliate scholarship in the amount of $500, which is distributed in a lottery drawing to qualified students.  Check with OIE for further details.

Cultural Experiences Abroad (CEA)

Countries: Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, South Africa, and Spain.

Disciplines: check for courses with CEA

Scholarships: Semester/Academic Year Scholarship: CEA  Chris Towns France Scholarship, CEA Spanish Language Scholarship, CEA Studio Arts Scholarship, CEA Fashion Design Scholarship, CEA Sciences Scholarship, and in addition to CEA offered scholarships, we offer an affiliate scholarship in the amount of $500, which is distributed in a lottery drawing to qualified students.  Check with OIE for further details.

International Studies Abroad (ISA)

Countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Czeck Republic, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, England, France, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Spain, and Multi-Country

Disciplines:  check for courses with ISA

Scholarships: ISA scholarships ranging between $1,000 and $2,500.  In addition to ISA scholarships, TAMIU students receive a $200 affiliation discount.

Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA)

Countries: Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Costa Rica, England, Egypt, India, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Scotland, Wales, and Peru.

Disciplines: check for courses with IFSA 

Scholarships: IFSA-Butler Scholarship ranging between $500 and $2,500, Memorial Scholarship ($3,500), and Program Specific and Overseas University Scholarships, and in addition to IFSA-Butler offered scholarships, we offer five annual affiliate stipends in the amount of $1,000 each, which are distributed in a lottery drawing to qualified students.  Check with OIE for further details.
