Texas A&M; International University's Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library is offering some special gifts to Library users this holiday season: a month-long Amnesty Program on all overdue books and expanded study hours during Final Week.

John Maxstadt, Head of Public Services, said the holiday spirit is alive and well at TAMIU's Library.

"This Amnesty Program from now through Dec. 21 will afford current and former students a chance to return overdue books and periodicals, clear any holds that might be attached to their student records and start the New Year with a clean slate," Maxstadt said.

The month-long amnesty and fine waiver will be applied to any overdue book or periodical, no matter how overdue. Those who plan to participate in the Amnesty Program should check the book or periodical to make sure that it is a TAMIU or LSU book prior to returning it.

The second gift, expanded hours during Finals Week, will allow students an opportunity to further prepare for their semester's end examinations, Maxstadt said.

"Beginning Thursday, Dec. 14, the Library will expand its hours to 11 p.m. nightly. The hours of operation are as follows: Friday - 7:30 a.m..-11 p.m.; Saturday - 10 a.m.. - 11 p.m.; Sunday - 12 noon to 11 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. .-11 p.m.," he explained.

The Library will revert to regular hours Wednesday, Dec. 20 and will close for the holidays Thursday, Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1996.
