TAMIU Schedules Annual Career Fair Thurs., March 7

Texas A&M International University students and graduates and community members who hold undergraduate or graduate degrees will have a chance to meet with local and area employers at TAMIU's annual Career Fair Thursday, March 7, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the south side of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library-Administration Building, at TAMIU's new campus, 5201 University Boulevard.

Sujatha Clemons, Director of Career Planning and Placement for TAMIU, said Career Fair 96 has attracted a wide variety of potential employers who are keenly interested in TAMIU students and graduates.

"Career Fair 96 is a great opportunity for students to talk to recruiters about career opportunities. A variety of possible employers from public and private sectors as well as local, state, and federal agencies will be on hand", she explained.

Over 50 recruiters from various employment fields are expected to participate in TAMIU's Career Fair 96. Participants will include Enterprise Rent-A-Car, H.E.B., Health Science Center at Fort Worth, Laredo Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Inc., Laredo National Bank, San Antonio Police Department, Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., Target Greatland, Texas A&M University Human Resources, Texas Department of Human Services, Texas Department of Transportation, the US Marine Corps Officer Program, and Walmart Distribution Center.

Participating employers will share information about possible jobs and careers, and offer advice on career planning and successfully following chosen career paths.

Recruiters from university graduate program located throughout the United States will also be on hand to meet with TAMIU graduates. Texas A&M International University, the University of North Texas and the University of Texas at San Antonio Graduate Business School are expected to participate.

"For those students interested on continuing on to graduate studies, a number of graduate schools will be present to share information of their available programs," she noted.

Clemons said that members of the community who hold undergraduate or graduate degrees and are interested in employment or career options are also welcome to attend the University's Career Fair.

She encourages community members and TAMIU students and graduates to attend Career Fair 96 and meet prospective employers to discuss various career options and to hear first-hand career success stories.
