Business in Global Economy Focus of TAMIU Speaker Series
"The Challenges of Doing Business in a Rapidly Expanding Global Economy" will be the topic of discussion for the second Distinguished Speaker Series Monday, March 18 from 6- 7:30 p.m. in the Great Room of Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library at Texas A&M International University.
The Distinguished Speaker Series is sponsored by The Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade and The College of Business Administration at TAMIU. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Monday's Distinguished Speaker will be Dr. Erdener Kaynak, Professor of Marketing at Pennsylvania State University at Harrisburg. Dr. Kaynak is the Editor of The Journal of Teaching in International Business.
He has held key teaching and administrative positions in Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. He is author or co-author of 18 major internationally utilized textbooks including International Joint Ventures in East Asia; Globalization of Consumer Markets: Structures and Strategies: The Global Business: Four Key Marketing Strategies; and Euromarketing: Effective Strategies for International Trade and Export.
Dr. Michael Patrick, TAMIU Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance and Director of Programs and Conferences, said the lecture topic should be of considerable interest locally.
"As the intensity of global competition increases, many companies are being forced to re- evaluate their niche in the world marketplace. Increasingly, companies are reassessing and modifying their business and investment strategies in response to changing political, social and economic environment conditions," he explained.
The Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade is a consortium of four Texas universities promoting the study of trade between and among Western Hemispheric countries, in collaboration with the Customs Service of the United States Department of the Treasury.
Center-sponsored conferences and seminars, publications and statistical databases help businesses and other institutions meet challenges and seize opportunities in the Western Hemispheric economic area.
