TAMIU Retiree Honored With Reception

Long-time Texas A&M International University employee Lilia L. Ortiz was honored with a reception to mark her retirement after 18 years with the University.

Ortiz joined the University in 1977 as a secretary for the International Trade Department. She joined the Office of Financial Aid in 1987 and remained with that office as Financial Aid Counselor until her retirement.

She was an active participant in student and employee activities and served on several University committees.

In 1994, Ortiz was named Non-Administrative Employee of the Year. Then TAMIU President Dr. Leo Sayavedra praised her for her tireless efforts in helping students achieve educational success.

She is married to Evelio M. Ortiz. They have one daughter, Alice, a Graphics Technician at TAMIU.
