TAMIU Seeking Summer Orientation Leaders

Texas A&M; International University students who have a grade point average of at least 2.5 and meet other requirements may apply for paid positions as Summer Orientation Leaders.

TAMIU Summer Orientation Leaders will represent the University to new students and their parents during the University's new student orientation this summer.

Interested students must submit an application and a recommendation from a faculty member, University administrator or staff. Applications are available from the TAMIU Office of Student Development, located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Administration Building Room 159 West. Application deadline is March 29.

In order to qualify as an TAMIU Orientation Leader, applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA, have completed at least two consecutive semesters at TAMIU, and be preregistered for the Fall 1996 semester.

Gabriela Mendoza, Associate Director of Student Development, said students who are enthusiastic, good communicators, and are actively involved in student organizations or University activities, would make ideal Orientation Leaders.

"The Orientation Leaders program is an wonderful opportunity for our students to enhance their interpersonal, public speaking, and project management skills," Mendoza said.
