TAMIU Accepting Summer Fellowship Applications

Texas A&M International University students who wish to apply for paid summer positions with the AT&T Hispanic Fellowship Program at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. have until Wednesday, April 10 to submit applications to the TAMIU Office of Career Planning and Placement.

Two fellows will be selected to work full-time assisting the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress to fulfil its mission to the Hispanic community in the United Sates by doing bibliographical research, producing finding aids and bibliographic records, assisting Hispanics Division patrons, and working closely with primary source materials and publications dealing with Hispanics.

Each Fellow will be paid a stipend of $1,000 per month as a temporary employee of the Library of Congress. The fellowship is available in the summer and will last approximately 14 weeks, according to the needs and schedules of the Hispanic Division.

Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduates or graduates or have just completed their degree. Thorough knowledge of Spanish is required.

The Hispanic Division will review applications and arrange telephone or face-to-face interviews with the most promising applicants. Selection will be made within one month.

The Fellowship begins in either May or June, depending on the availability of the selected Fellow.
