Texas A&M International University students have an opportunity to work as paid interns with Webb County thanks to an Internship Program being developed by TAMIU and County officials.

Sujatha Clemons, Director of the University's Office of Career Planning and Placement, said the paid internships afford TAMIU students an excellent opportunity to gain experience in their chosen career while continuing their studies at the University.

"The internship positions will be part-time, a maximum of 19 hours per week, and will be paid. Qualified TAMIU students may start their paid internships now or in the summer," said Clemons.

Possible internship placements include the Economic Development Department, Planning Department, Law Enforcement, Sheriffs Office, and Computer Department. Other placement possibilities may also be available.

"The County will work with our office in creating new internship placements in other career fields, depending on the students' interests," added Clemons.

Qualified TAMIU students currently enrolled as undergraduates or graduates may begin participating in the Webb County internships immediately or during the summer. Qualified TAMIU students who will be enrolled for Summer Session or Fall 1996 courses may begin their internship in the summer.

Interested TAMIU students should contact the University's Office of Career Planning and Placement, located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library-Administration Building Room 157 West, as soon as possible to begin the application process.
