TAMIU Professor Presents At International Conference

Dr. Linda Medearis, Texas A&M International University Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Special Populations, gave a presentation on Natural Math at the Association for Childhood Education International's Annual International Study Conference in Minneapolis recently.

Dr. Medearis' presentation highlighted a two-year cycle of monthly math activities designed to be natural for Native American families to use. The math activities were designed to be adaptable for other cultures as well. Audience members for her presentation included educators and caregivers from around the world who attended the three-day international conference.

Medearis joined TAMIU in 1993. She holds her BS and M.Ed. from Texas Woman's University. Her Ph.D. was earned from the University of North Texas. Prior to joining TAMIU, she was a faculty member at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Additional posts have been held at the University of North Texas, the Region XVI Education Service Center and a number of Texas public schools as teacher, consultant, and principal.
