TAMIU Signs MOU with ITESM Friday

Texas A&M International University's College of Business Administration and Graduate School of International Trade and Business Administration will enter into a number of collaborative activities with the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico.

The two will sign a Memorandum of Understanding Friday, May 10 at 4 p.m. in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

Signing the historic accord will be TAMIIU Interim President Jose Garcia and Dr. Khosrow Fatemi, Dean of the University's College of Business Administration and Dr. Ramon de la Pena, President of ITESM. Dr. Jaime Alonso Gomez, Dean and Professor of the Graduate School of Business and Leadership at ITESM, will also attend the event.

"This Memorandum of Understanding will provide for student and faculty exchanges, joint research and exchange of materials, joint conferences, symposia and workshops," Garcia explained.

Dean of the Graduate School of International Trade and Business Administration Dr. Khosrow Fatemi said the signing also includes other innovative programming.

"This Memorandum of Understanding provides for the establishment of a Executive Development Programs and Degree-Certificate Programs in International Trade, International Banking and International Logistics. Through this agreement, ITESM will offer TAMIU students a certificate program in Manufacturing Strategy. Joint degrees and dual degrees will also be possible with this MOU," he said.

ITESM-Monterrey has 26 undergraduate programs and 30 graduate programs have produced a large percentage of Mexico's business and technology professionals, a record which has made the University the most respected school in Mexico and among the elite educational institutions in all of Latin America.

TAMIU holds a number of similar agreements with universities throughout central and Latin America and Europe.
