Application Deadline For TAMIU Coca-Cola Freshman Scholarship Jun. 28

Students who will enter Texas A&M International University in the Fall of 1996 have until 5 p.m. Friday, June 28 to submit applications for the new TAMIU Coca-Cola Freshman Scholarships.

The new TAMIU Coca-Cola Freshman Scholarships, for $2,500 each, will be awarded to students pursing degrees in any of TAMIU's four Colleges.

The scholarships are the result of a recent $50,000 grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation, a philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company.

Scholarship applications are available from the University's Office of Financial Aid and Office of Enrollment Management, located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library-Administration Building room 155 West and 158 West, respectively.

To be eligible, applicants must be a US citizen or resident alien, be a 1996 high school graduate who ranks in the upper 20% of their graduating class, and plan to enroll as a full-time student at Texas A&M International University in the Fall of 1996.

To be considered for the new scholarship, students need to complete an application form, submit an official school transcript, answer two essay questions on the application form, submit SAT or ACT scores, and provide two sealed letters of support or recommendation -- one from a teacher/administrator and the other from someone other than a relative.

The scholarships are competitive and final decisions on their awarding will be made by the University's Scholarship Committee.
