Unofficial class enrollment figures for Summer Session I at Texas A&M International University show an enrollment climb of 17.5% over last Summer Session I. Final figures will be reported to the Coordinating Board upon certification of class rolls.

Enrollment for SSI is 1491, up over SSI enrollment of 1269 in 1995. More importantly, Semester Credit Hours (SCH) are up to 7041, 12.8% over 6239 for SSI 1995. SCH is important in determining State funding levels.

Barbara Lunce, University Registrar, attributed the increase to the return of educators to summer classrooms and recent high school graduates taking advantage of summer to begin their higher education.

Summer Sessions have traditionally been a popular time for local and area educators to continue progress on certifications or advanced degrees. We're also seeing considerable interest from recent high school graduates in getting a jump start on their four-year University degree, said Barbara Lunce, University Registrar.

Summer Session II registration is July 5. First class day is July 8. Early registration for the Fall Semester is underway through June 28. First class day for the Fall Semester is August 26.

For additional information on registration, contact the Office of the Registrar at 326 - 2250 or come by offices in Killam Library 168.
