TAMIU Grad Students Receive Award From UNB

Three Texas A&M International University graduate students have been named recipients of the Union National Bank Outstanding International Banking Student Award.

TAMIU students Nacho Zabaleta, James Yingjun Qug, and Hong Yin received the award for work completed in a Bank Management course (FIN 5320) taught by Dr. Kurt Jesswein, TAMIU Assistant Professor of International Banking.

For the course, the students participated in the American Bankers' Association banking simulation. The simulation replicated the operations of a commercial bank, allowing students to experience the complexities of managing bank operations and finances.

Union National Bank First Vice President John A. Adams Jr. congratulated the students and presented them with a plaque during a brief ceremony held at TAMIU's north campus recently. The plaque, which will be permanently displayed in the University's College of Business, is inscribed with the students' names.

Zabaleta is a graduate student pursuing a MBA in International Banking. His BA was earned at the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

Qug graduated from TAMIU in May with a MBA in International Banking. He holds a BS from the Shanghai University of Engineering Science.

Yin is pursuing a Master of accounting degree and will graduate from TAMIU in he Fall of 1996. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting from People's University of China in Beijing.
