TAMIU Professor Named To Advisory Committee

Texas A&M International University Assistant Professor of Sociology Dr. Cecilia Garza has been named to an advisory committee to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The committee, which is comprised of faculty from univerisities throughout Texas, will develop guidelines and recommendations to help the Coordinating Board and colleges and universities achieve diversity and adequate representation of minorities and other groups among student bodies.

The committee will also develop a list of classifications, markers, definers, and characteristics which colleges and universities could apply to achieve student diversity and appropriate representation of all sectors and segments of society in admissions, financial aid decisions, and other activities, programs, and processes on college campuses.

Garza holds a BA from the University of Texas at Austin, a MA from Texas A&I University, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.
