TAMIU Student Club Receive $2,000 From Sam's

The Texas A&M International University Student Ambassadors, a student service organization, has received a matching fund donation of $2,000 from Sam's Club.

The donation matched funds the Student Ambassadors raised from a barbecue plate sale held at the Sam's parking lot in April.

Sam's managers Simon Guajardo and Luis Chavez presented the donation to Student Ambassador officers during a brief ceremony held at the University's Great Room recently. The donation will be used for scholarships, recruitment of new Ambassadors, and to fund trips to the Student Affairs Symposium and the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) '96 Annual Conference.

The TAMIU Student Ambassadors assist students in preparing for and adjusting to the rigors of University life and learning at Texas' newest four-year University.

Ambassadors also participate in campus and community events throughout the area and provide campus tours for groups or individuals interested in visiting the campus at 5201 University Boulevard. The TAMIU Student Ambassadors are advised by Ricardo Ortegon, Associate Director of the University's Office of Enrollment Management and School Relations.
