"Shoot, Don't Shoot" Course Offered at TAMIU Aug. 19-20

A special two-day continuing education course at Texas A&M International University will provide members of the law enforcement community with an opportunity to participate in real life, real time shooting exercises.

The University's Office of Continuing Education will offer the course, "Shoot, Don't Shoot," Aug. 19-20 at the TAMIU campus in north Laredo.

The course will include shooting exercises, report writing, high-risk felony vehicle stops and live fire night shoots. Participants will receive 1.6 Continuing Education Units or 16 classroom credit hours from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education.

Cost of the course is $50 per person and participation is limited to four representatives of each agency. Enrollment is limited to 50 individuals. Deadline for registration is Aug. 12, 1996.

Instruction will be presented in English and Spanish. Weapons and ammunition will be furnished for all field exercises for all participants.

Registration will be held Monday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m.-12 noon. Classroom sessions will be underway from 12-5 p.m. A social event is planned from 5-7:30 p.m. with night exercises scheduled from 7:30-10:30 p.m.

Classroom sessions will resume on Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 8 a.m.-12 noon. Lunch is scheduled from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Classroom sessions will resume from 1-5 p.m.
