Sales and marketing on the new cyber-frontier of the Internet will be explored in a special guest lecture hosted by the Texas A&M International University Marketing Club Thursday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. In Bullock Hall 118.

The lecture is free of charge and open to all students and interested members of the community.

Mary Anne Schweers, Business Consultant of San Antonio's Electronic Commerce Resource Center (ECRC), will provide the guest lecture.

The ECRC is operated by Sunset Resources, Inc. and is part of a nationwide network that was created to accelerate the US industrial base's migration towards transacting business electronically with the Department of Defense.

With the enactment of the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act, the need has increased for small and medium-sized enterprises to migrate towards electronic commerce.

The Act requires the federal government to transform the acquisition system from a cumbersome paperwork process to a computer-based system readily accessible to government and private sector uses, including small businesses.

The San Antonio ECRC has recently developed a new search tool that will allow companies to access a database to see what products are being solicited by the government through electronic data interchange.

For additional information, contact the A&M International University Marketing Club faculty sponsor Assistant Professor Paul Herbig at 326 - 2521.

A&M International office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
