Texas A&M International Hosts Talks By Former President of Sears, Mexico

The former president and chairman of the board of Sears, Mexico will be the special guest speaker at Texas A&M International University on October 24.

Thurmon Williams, whose career with Sears spans 30 years, will speak on International Marketing Blunders" at 2:00 p.m. and "Marketing to Mexico" at 9:00 p.m. Both presentations will be held on Thursday, October 24 in Bullock Hall room 118 on A&M International University's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard. They are free and open to the public.

Two University student organizations, the International Business Association and the A&M International Marketing Associates, are sponsoring the free presentations.

Williams joined Sears as an International Management Trainee in 1964 after graduating from Georgia Southern College with a BS in Business Administration.

During his 30-year career with Sears, he rose to regional then corporate headquarters level. While with Sears, he worked at 23 different physical locations and served as marketing manager for Sears, Spain, operations manager for Sears, Belgium, and president and chairman of the board of Sears, Mexico. He retired from Sears at the end of 1995 and has devoted part of his retirement to lecturing at major universities.
