A Legislative Forum for the discussion of priorities and funding for Texas A&M International University will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 5-7 p.m. in Bullock Hall 101.

The Forum was requested by State Senator Dr. Judith Zaffirini and will include members of the Webb County legislative delegation, State Representatives Henry Cuellar and Tracy King. Member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Dr. Joaquin Cigarroa, will also attend.

Dr. J. Charles Jennett, A&M International University president, said the Forum offers all members of the University community and the community at large an opportunity to express concerns and interests regarding legislative priorities for Texas A&M International University.

"We greatly appreciate this opportunity to share community insight with the Legislature. The coming legislative session is a critical one for Texas A&M International University and higher education in general. We seek to complete our library and campus. The insight this Forum can provide our legislators will be crucial to them as they work on behalf of advancing this University and higher education in Texas," he said.

The legislative delegation has expressed a keen interest in hearing from A&M International students, faculty, staff, alumni and community supporters, Dr. Jennett noted.

"This community has clearly united in its support of this University. From students and faculty to private and public support, I believe this community's advocacy for its University will be a key strength in advancing the University and completing this campus. I would encourage all those who would like to share their positive insight about the future of this University to attend, " he said.
