The Texas A&M International University Office of Student Development will offer a New Student Orientation on Tuesday, January 7, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at A&M International's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard, in Bullock Hall room 118.

New freshmen students, new transfer and graduate students, and family and guests of new students are invited to attend the Orientation.

Gabriela Mendoza, Associate Director of the Office of Student Development said Orientation will give new students an opportunity to meet University staff and administrators, tour the campus, and make new friends.

"We will answer questions, provide information about on-campus services, and do everything we can to ensure new students get a successful start at A&M International," explained Mendoza.

The New Student Orientation will begin with introductions and a general information session followed by concurrent sessions for freshmen, transfer students, graduate students, and family and guests.

The Freshmen session will include a presentation on campus activities and student organizations, tips and advice on coping during the first year at a university.

The Transfer Student session will offer information on the types of services available at the University, a tour of the campus, and an opportunity to meet other transfer students. Session participants can also meet with University faculty and administrators.

The Graduate Student session will offer information on what they may expect as new graduate students at A&M International. Participants will have an opportunity to meet with peers and hear from students who are currently pursing graduate degrees at the University. The session also includes a campus tour.

The Family/Guest Orientation session will help participants understand the transition students will face as they enter the University. The session will provide information about the University and the services available to students. Representatives from offices in the Division of Student Affairs, including Financial Aid, Student Development, Career Planning, and Student Health Services will be available to answer questions. Portions of the session will be offered both in English and in Spanish.

New students and their guests may RSVP for the Orientation by calling the University's Office of Student Development at 326-2280 or visiting offices in Killam Library-Administration Building Room 159 West.

"We hope new students will take advantage of this excellent opportunity to meet new friends, learn about A&M International and get a great start on their first semester at A&M International," Mendoza added.
