A&M International Offers Free Career Workshops

The Texas A&M International University Office of Career Planning and Placement will hold free workshops this semester to assist University students in achieving their career goals.

Scheduled workshops include "Career Planning," "Creating Cover Letters and Resumes that Work," and "Interviewing."

A three-session "Career Planning" group workshop will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. January 21, January 28, and February 4. Sessions are sequential and participants must attend all three sessions. The group workshop will be offered again on February 10, 17, and 24 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

"Creating Cover Letters and Resumes that Work" will be offered from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5. The workshop will be repeated on Thursday, March 6, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday, April 2, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

"Interviewing" will be offered from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 6 and repeated on Wednesday, March 5, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday, April 3, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

All workshops will be held in the Office of Career Planning and Placement located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library-Administration Building room 157 West.

The number of participants is not limited, however, students are asked to preregister to attend any workshop by calling the Office of Career Planning and Placement at 326-2260 or by visiting offices located in Killam Library-Administration Building room 157 West.

The Office of Career Planning and Placement has designated March 24 - 28 as "Career Week" and will offer a variety of workshops and activities on those dates. Career Week is being held in preparation for "Global Opportunities `97," the University's job, teacher, and career fair to be held April 15.

Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday - Thursday.
