A&M International Offers Talk On Improving Memory

Texas A&M International University will host an encore presentation of a health talk on "Improving Memory for Academic Success" on Tuesday, April 1 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 101 on the University's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard.

Featured guest speaker will be Dr. Jeffrey M. Brown, Assistant Professor of Psychology at A&M International.

Admission is free and members of the community are invited to attend. Participants are invited to bring their lunch. Beverages and lite desserts will be served.

Dr. Brown will share tips and techniques which can be used to improve memory for academic, professional and personal success. The presentation is ideal for persons who memorize intensive amounts of details including students, business persons, and professionals. His talk will end with a question and answer period.

Brown holds a BA in Psychology from Miami University and a MS and PhD in Experimental Psychology from Texas A&M University. His areas of expertise include human memory, problem solving, eye witness memory, creativity, and cognitive psychology.

He first presented this talk in February as part of A&M International's "Spring 1997 Health and Wellness Initiative," a lecture series sponsored by the University's Office of Student Health Services. Due the popularity of the talk, it is being offered again, this time in a higher capacity room that will accommodate a larger audience.

Upcoming talks in the Health and Wellness series include: "Diabetes," featuring guest speaker Dr. Eduardo Gomez Vasquez, Wednesday, April 9; and "Headaches," featuring Dr. David Garza, Thursday, April 24. Both upcoming talks will be held at 12:00 noon in Bullock Hall room 113.
